Our History

The Johnson Group has provided janitorial services to some of North and South Carolina’s most prestigious properties since 1985. We strive to provide the most consistent, first class services available in commercial cleaning.

It all started back in 1970, when Gene Johnson had a carpet cleaning truck and a mission to own his own cleaning company. A janitorial company larger bought Genes small business and Gene worked and learned from this company for over 30 years setting up locations all over the south east. In the late 90s Gene began to realize he could do things a little bit different, create an opportunity for his family, and provide his customers with the service of a large organization, along with the customer service of a family owned business. Gene took this leap of faith and it paid off. Gene was able to create a business for his family and give his customers the service they deserved and wanted. Gene passed away in 2015, and left the business to his two daughters, Emily J McGrath and Katie J Cutler. It is their goal to live their fathers legacy on with the business, creating jobs for people, respecting every employee that works for the Johnson Group and providing their customers with the most up to date training and sustainability for their facilities. The Johnson Group currently cleans over 10 million square feet a night.
